Cliff Dwelling
Montezuma Castle
Camp Verde, AZ
The Southern Sinagua farmers built this five-story, 20-room dwelling and it is situated about 90 feet up a sheer limestone cliff. Because it was built in a natural alcove, the dwelling is protected from the natural elements. Neither part of the monument's name is correct. The dwelling had nothing to do with Montezuma and it was not a "castle" in the traditional sense.
